September is Attendance Awareness Month, an initiative to highlight the importance of being in school, on time, every day.

In addition to the academic advantages that regular attendance provides, here’s a lesson you may not have known; excessive absences can leave your car in park.

Students who are under 18 years old with 30 or more consecutive unexcused absences, will have their driving permits or driver’s licenses suspended.

As such, for young drivers, the lessons of driver’s education class are clear; put down the phone. Wear your seatbelt. Limit distractions. Stay in your lane. Stay in school.
